Happy December!

Happy December! Let the Wild Rumpus of the Holiday Season begin!

(I believe in the order of things. First comes Halloween, then Thanksgiving, then the December holiday season, however you celebrate the latter. No overlap. None of this “Christmas decorations in stores before Halloween” shit. Deep down I think you should hold off ‘til December 1, but I know a lot of people use the T’giving weekend to start decorating, and I’m cool with that. But now it’s December, and I’m happy about singing along with all the holiday music!)

We have a firm tradition in my family of not decoration until Dec. 1st, because my birthday is on Nov 29. I used to cry when I was little in dept stores that were already playing Christmas music - I thought it meant they were skipping my birthday.

Oh honey, that's so sad! {{{hugs}}}

I lean towards the Dec 1 tradition, but I've made peace with the after-Thanksgiving folks, because it does make a certain amount of sense. Since I like to decorate for autumn after Halloween, though, it cuts into that season for me!

(Oddly, I don't really decorate for anything but the three autumn/winter seasons/holidays. I suppose I should rectify that!)
