Thursday 13: Thirteen Things I’m Happy About

I’ve been a bit down in the dumps recently, what with my husband being out of town and me spraining my ankle and being most housebound for a week. So, dammit, it’s time to focus on the positive!

  1. Ken will be home in about an hour! Hurrah!

  2. The sprain could have been much, much worse.

  3. Although I’ve been uninspired for a few days, I wrote last night and plan to eke out a few words tonight. Face forward!

  4. Friends from Portland are visiting friends down the street for a week, and we’re all having tea on Saturday and I’ll probably get to hang out with them at other times.

  5. The library. :-)

  6. My recent book signing, which went very well.

  7. My upcoming group talk at a library with other LARA members next month.

  8. My massage therapist. She’s incredible, plus we spend the two hours laughing every week.

  9. The rain. Gods know we need it. Plus, there was some incredible booming thunder last night!

  10. Brian, for fixing the TV/VCR/DVD/DVR setup so I could watch TV again.

  11. Afalwen, my laptop, so I can work even when my ankle is elevated.

  12. The cats. Purring madly and keeping me company. I’ve even forgiven Eostre for stepping on my injured ankle in the middle of the night last night!

  13. Candles. Pretty, pretty candles…

Yanno, every woman claims they'd love a week home alone with nothing to do but read, write, or just lounge. But we're not wired that way; we're so used to doing we can't sit still for too long. Glad the ankle wasn't worse and hope you and your dh had a fabulous reunion! (hubba! hubba!)

I hope your ankle heals quickly and HOORAY your hubby is coming home.
Hope the dumps go away.

That's a great TT, Dayle. I really admire how you could think of things that might normally be taken for granted and decide to be happy about or thankful for them. Even when we think we're at our worst, it's a good exercise, I think. Go you! And sorry about your ankle. =(

Gina, for me there's a difference between lounging and enforced nonmovement! Not being able to drive put a damper on things I wanted to do!

Thanks, Jennifer!

Gwen, one of the things I'm trying to focus on right now is attitude. Mood swings are way too easy for me--I'm trying to minimize them!

"I can be crabby. I can be moody. I can be bitchy. I can even be depressed. But self pity is not an option."

Glad the ankle injury wasn't more serious and that you are enjoying a few thunderstorms. Please keep that weather out your way, though, 'cause we've had quite enough snow already this year - 10 inches and counting just this week alone!

Hope you enjoy your weekend!

I'm sorry to hear about your sprain! I hope it heals soon!

Were you able to catch the season premiere of Torchwood? Did it cheer you up? What did you think?
